
Ben Saunders: General Manager
Ben graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in Environmental Management. He worked for The British Trust for Conservation Volunteer while studying, implementing back to work training schemes in and around Manchester.
Ben moved to London in 2002 to start work with ECT Recycling as Assistant Manager responsible for the roll out and running of the new Kerbside Recycling Scheme in Tower Hamlets. In 2003 Ben did a placement in Warwick for 6 weeks to help launch the new recycling service in Nuneaton and Bedworth. Ben was promoted to Operations Manager for the Barnet and Brent Recycling contracts in 2005 and was part of the Managing team responsible for implementing the first compulsory recycling service in the UK. In 2006 Ben was promoted to General Manager for ECT's recycling contracts in Brent, Hounslow and Ealing. As part of this role he managed the implementation of a new kerbside food waste service for the borough of Ealing.
In 2007, Ben was appointed General Manager for ECT's new PlusBus Scheme in Cheshire. This involved the set up of a new community transport operation in the Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston area. The first year was very successful culminating in ECT being awarded for ‘Best Urban Operator in the UK' at the annual Community Transport Associations UK awards.
