Anna Whitty: Chief Executive
A Maths graduate of University of London, Anna pursued an early career in management with British Airways. Anna has over 20 years experience in passenger transport and operational management having joined ECT in 1989.
Anna initially worked in transport administration, developing into financial management as ECT grew in the 1990s. Moving into an operational role, Anna implemented the PlusBus service in 1995 and subsequently grew the service throughout the late 1990's including developments as part of the Sure Start programme. Anna introduced driver training standards including the adoption of the MiDAS, Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme and later the PATS (Passenger Assistance) programme. Anna was also key in the implementation of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations across the transport operations.
As Passenger Operations Director with ECT Group, Anna went on to win her first stage carriage bus route operating for London Buses in 2003.
In June 2006, Anna set up an entirely new transport operation in Milton Keynes which developed into a city wide 15 vehicle PlusBus service. This was then replicated to a new contract in Cheshire in October 2007. These contracts with Milton Keynes and Cheshire have been extremely successful, and clients have both nominated their respective PlusBus services for an award; the Cheshire operation winning the CBW sponsored "The Best Urban Community Transport Scheme" award at the CTA Access08 event.
Anna is also a service director for a major transport contract with the Olympic Delivery Authority to transport construction workers on the Olympic park site which ECT operates in partnership with HCT.
Following key changes to the ECT Group, Anna was appointed Chief Executive in June 2008. Anna is responsible for all ECT services and for providing strategic leadership. She is also Chair of the London Community Transport committee.
