An award-winning provider of local community transport across the UK, ECT is both a charity and a social enterprise, combining business thinking with social values to deliver the highest quality transport services that provide the greatest social benefit for the communities we serve.
ECT operates a wide range of community transport services, including transport for groups, individual door-to-door services, home-to-school transport and local buses.
We have strong partnerships with local authorities and other public bodies in different parts of the UK, as well as other partners – adding value to their services with our focus on quality, community benefit and expertise in the field of accessible transport.
ECT began life as Ealing Community Transport in 1979, with a mission to provide transport for older and disabled people in Ealing, west London. ECT is still a thriving community transport charity, based at our headquarters in Greenford.
To reinforce our charitable objectives and values, in June 2012 we created ECT Charity as our ‘umbrella brand’. ECT Charity is the brand we use to represent the ECT group of companies whose parent company is a company limited by guarantee and a charity registered with the Charity Commission.
Over the years, we have transplanted the success and community benefit we have created in Ealing to other parts of the country. ECT Charity now includes a group of subsidiary companies working with the same social and business values: Milton Keynes Community Transport (MKCT), ECT in Cheshire and, most recently, Dorset Community Transport (DCT)
